Introduction toDraupadi Mahila Samiti
The “DRAUPADI MAHILA SAMITI”(child care institution) is located near the rural village “Uttarahana” by the side of historic river Bhargabi which is 07 kms towards west from “Chandanpur” and 22 kms from the world famous Lord Sri Jagannath, Puri. Amongst the rural bushy villages, calm and enchanting atmosphere the “Ashram” always breaths for building these un-fate children with holistic development and viewed each of them as mile stone for the coming age. The Ashram life which spreads over 2-8 acres of lands is rather considered as a place of devotion, dedication as well as a pilgrimage.
The members of Draupadi Mahila Samiti once upon a time, during 1978 after marking significantly the memorable 26th Jan, Republic Day dedicated and started the Balashram with 05 orphan children. Consequently, the inmate strength reached upto 25 and the State Government came to extend its helping hand through grant in-aid from the year 1979-80. Further, considering the growing demand, increased enrolment strength as well as the deep fragrance of human/women services the government again considered and approved the enrolment position upto 50 Nos. regular basis providing aid@Rs.750/- P.M. and further considered @Rs.2160/- P.M. per inmate for their smooth maintenance.
This is rather a Home away from so called broken home(s) of these un-fate inmates. The Ashram provides them fooding, bedding, lodging, education, health care, recreation, yoga, proper guidance and empowering them for sustaining their future life in a better way. The children are within the age group of 06 to 18 in case of boys and the Balashram is now functioning as per the prevailing Orphanage Rule & J.J.Act 2015 of the State and coming under the supervision of the government authority.
The "DRAUPADI MAHILA SAMITI" (child care institution) is being managed by the Governing Body of the organization with the assistance of staffs employed for the purpose. The details of this Body is enclosed. Besides the Governing Body, another CCI Home Committee and Children Committee is constituted for smooth functioning and better day to day management of the Home. The members of this Home Committee are as follows:
Fighters, Dictionary, Essay Translation ,Ramayana and Mahabharat, Naba diganta, etc. These facilities were intended to develop their outlook and knowledge.
The children were taken for outing, picnic during holidays. They also visited many types of science exhibition and historical places. It was done for refreshment of their mind and increase their outlook, group feeling and fun.
A Nearest Govt. doctor checking the health of inmates once in a month regularly and a paramedical worker also appointed for giving health care to inmates. The inmates are refer to Cuttack and Puri when they need best treatment.
Moral teachings through lectures, quiz competitions and question answer sessions were organized in the Home in regular weekly intervals. The guest lectures for the purpose were invited. Besides, autobiography of religious leaders, freedom fighters, national leaders were also discussed among the children by the lectures of Satya Sai Seva Samiti, Chandanpur and Rotary Club, Omkara Club,Puri,Lions Club, Puri, Navaratna ,Puri Sri Jagannath Dham, Puri and visitors very often.
During 2018-19, 05 inmates have been taken care by their relatives for best improvement and study.
The necessity of a boundary wall for protection of children and need a Generator when not available of electricity.
